What an Irish business website actually needs

Most websites that fail do not fail on design. They fail on six specific things, and every one of them is fixable. This is what we build into every site regardless of which plan you are on.

The places you actually work, named

Not "Dublin and surrounding areas". The towns and suburbs, written out. When somebody searches for a trade plus a place — "electrician Stillorgan", "physio Swords" — Google needs text on your site to match against, and a page that only says "Ireland" matches none of them. This one omission accounts for more invisible Irish business sites than anything else.

Some indication of what you charge

A from-price, a typical range, a starting package — anything. The most common reason a visitor leaves an Irish service website is that they cannot work out whether they can afford you, and they will not ring to find out. You do not have to publish a full price list; you do have to give them a number.

A phone number you can tap

Visible without scrolling, on every page, as a real tel: link. A surprising number of Irish business sites hide the number behind a contact form, which costs them the customer who was ready to ring there and then.

A page per service, not one long list

Eight services stacked on one page competes for none of them properly. A page each is how you appear for the specific thing somebody typed, and it is the difference between ranking for "web design" and ranking for the work you actually want.

Speed on a phone, on bad mobile data

Most local searches in Ireland happen on a phone, often on a poor signal somewhere between towns. A site that takes five seconds to appear has already lost to the one below it, whatever it looks like once it loads.

A claimed Google Business Profile

For most local Irish businesses this drives more enquiries than the website itself, and it is free. It needs to be claimed, verified and consistent with the site. Included on every plan we do.

How to choose a web designer in Ireland

Five questions worth asking whoever you end up hiring — including us. They are free to ask and they tell you more than any amount of comparing prices.

01 Ask what happens if you leave

The single most useful question, and the one that separates a fair supplier from an expensive lesson. Ask whether you get the files, whose name the domain is registered in, and what either costs. A reasonable supplier has a clear answer ready. A domain held in an agency's own account is the most common way Irish businesses end up stuck with someone they no longer want to work with.

02 Ask what the ongoing fee covers

Hosting only, or hosting plus security patching, backups and edits? These are very different services at similar-looking prices, and the gap usually shows up eighteen months later when something breaks and nobody is responsible for fixing it.

03 Ask to see something live

Not a portfolio image — a working URL you can open on your own phone and judge for yourself. How fast does it load? Does it read well on a small screen? Can you find the phone number in two seconds?

04 Ask what is explicitly not included

A supplier who cannot name a single exclusion has either not thought about it or is not telling you. Every real quote has boundaries, and knowing them upfront is how you avoid the awkward conversation in month three.

05 Check whether a grant applies before you pay anyone

Ireland has genuine public support for this, which has no equivalent in most of the web design advice you will read online. Between the Local Enterprise Offices and the digital voucher schemes, a meaningful share of a small business website can be funded — and the rules differ between schemes, so it is worth checking both rather than assuming.

Our answers to all five

Published rather than left to be asked. Every plan, the minimum term, the exit terms, who owns the site and the domain, and what is not included are all on the packages and plans page. If you are weighing the wider Irish market first, the website cost guide covers freelancer, agency and DIY pricing over three years. And before paying full price for anything, check the LEO grant and the Grow Digital Voucher.

Web design and web development across Ireland

We are Dublin-based and the whole thing runs remotely, so a good share of the work is for businesses nowhere near the city. Where you are does not limit who we work with — what matters is that the site names the areas you cover.

If your trade has its own constraints — a solicitor writing under advertising rules, a GP practice handling patient data, an insulation contractor fielding grant questions all day — start from industry solutions, which sets out what each sector's site specifically has to do. If you would rather start from what it costs, that is affordable web design or pay monthly websites.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've got answers. Here are some of the most common questions we get from our clients.

What do your website plans cost?

Our Starter plan is €0 upfront, €50/month all-inclusive — hosting, domain, SSL, security and one content update a month are all included. If you'd rather own the site outright, it's €599 once-off plus a €15/month care plan. See the full breakdown on our pricing page.

Do you work with businesses outside Dublin?

Yes. We are Dublin-based and the whole process runs remotely — design, approval, revisions and support all happen over WhatsApp and email — so a good share of the work is for businesses nowhere near the city. We have pages for Cork and Galway, and plenty of clients are in neither. Being local to you matters far less than the site naming the areas you actually cover.

What is the difference between web design and web development?

In practice the words get used interchangeably in Ireland, and most businesses searching for either want the same thing: a working website. Where it does matter is scope. Design is how the site looks and reads; development is what it does. A five-page site presenting your services is a design job. Something with a login, a booking diary, a calculator or a database behind it is development — that is web application work, priced and built differently. We do both, and we will tell you which one you actually need rather than quoting the larger of the two.

How long does a website take to build?

Two to three weeks for a standard five-page site, from the point we have your content. The slow part is almost never the building — it is getting text and photographs out of a business that is busy doing its actual job. If you already have your copy and images ready, it moves faster. We design the homepage first and show it to you before anything else is built.

Can a grant cover the cost?

Often, and it is the step most Irish businesses skip entirely. Between the Local Enterprise Office grant and the Grow Digital Voucher, a meaningful share of a small business website can be funded. The two schemes run on different eligibility rules, so check both — plenty of businesses qualify for one and not the other. We quote in whatever format the application asks for.

What's included in the €50/month plan?

A 5-page static website, hosting, domain, SSL, security and maintenance, one content update a month, WhatsApp and contact-form lead capture, and Google Business Profile setup. It's a 12-month minimum term, then month-to-month.

How fast can my site go live?

We build your homepage design first, so you can see and approve it before you pay anything. Once approved, most sites are live within 2 weeks.

Do I own my website?

With our Starter plan, we build, host and maintain everything for €50/month — no separate hosting or domain bills to manage. If you'd rather own the site outright, our Starter — Own It plan is €599 once-off plus a €15/month care plan.

Do you build WordPress websites?

We can, on request — WordPress builds start from €1,200 plus a €90/month care plan. That said, we recommend a static site for most small businesses and tradesmen: it's faster, there's nothing to hack, and there are no plugin bills.
